    Job Description

    Polaris Alpha Advanced Systems, a Parsons Company, is seeking a full time software engineer to provide development and test support for DoD systems. Ideal candidates are self-starters and team-players that have a broad set of technical skills and relevant domain knowledge (see Skills and Experience).

    Polaris Alpha (“Polaris”), a Parsons company, provides advanced technical capabilities, specialized domain expertise and mission critical solutions to Department of Defense and Intelligence Community customers. The company has approximately 1,500 employees with major offices in Colorado Springs, CO, Fredericksburg, VA, Annapolis Junction, MD, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, and Alexandria, VA and works on-site with our customers both domestically and internationally.

    Duties Include:
    • The design and implementation of software solutions that address diverse and complex space problems.
    • The integration of software with existing and already deployed systems.
    • Working with Systems Engineering to interpret customer requirements and build features / services to specification and within compliance guidelines.
    • Supporting our customer by meeting all customer requirements and working to exceed customer expectations.
    • Performing quality assurance by defining, documenting, analyzing and performing tests for new and/or modified products or product components, and interpreting results of these tests.
    • Working with the team and customer to investigate and resolve problems as projects mature
    • Providing technical support and guidance to other engineering groups.
    • Participating in the development, maintenance and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs.

    Required Skills

    • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be a self-starter, and enjoy being part of and contributing to a hard-working team.
    • Must have the ability to quickly learn and creatively leverage new technologies.
    • 5-10 years of experience with designing, developing, and testing software
    • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or Computer/Electronic Engineering disciplines from an accredited educational institution.
    • Full-lifecycle software engineering experience: design, development, integration, test, deployment and support.
    • At least 3 years of experience with Web Development technologies and architectures (ex: Angular, React, NodeJS, REST, Web Sockets, SPA, Web Workers, MEAN, etc…)
    • At least 3 years of experience with database solutions and technologies frequently used in web development (ex: JPA, Hibernate, Postgres, SQL, NoSQL, MongoDB, etc…)
    • Experience with Web UX and charting technologies (ex: Bootstrap, Material-UI, Three.js, D3, etc…)
    • Experience with Build and Configuration tools and Task Runners
    • Proficiency with multiple programming languages: JavaScript is required. C++, Java, C#, Python and TypeScript are a plus.
    • Ability to work with different development environments depending on the team’s preference and/or history
    • Familiar with UML, Test Driven Development, Design Pattern Implementation, Agile Software Development.
    • Willing to travel.

    Desired Skills

    • Experience with Government standards and procedures.
    • Ability to help the team find and exploit opportunities to make their development workflow more efficient
    • Ability to see refactoring opportunities for existing code, to make codebase more maintainable and performant
    • Experience with front-end, back-end and middleware development for web applications
    • Experience with Progressive Web Application (PWA) development
    • Experience with writing “secure” code plus experience with User Authentication / Authorization frameworks
