    Job Description

    Polaris Alpha, A Parsons Company, provides cutting edge solutions development based on the latest advances in open software design and integration. Polaris Alpha, a Parsons Company develops sophisticated data visualization, event analysis, pattern detection, mission planning and mobile software using net centric and enterprise architectures.

    This position is in the Multi Domain Operations Department and is focused on the development and maintenance of the National Tactical Data Manager (NTDM) product. Applicants will design and develop application software that will be used to ingest information from National Tactical Means and disseminate track information to tactical users. Areas of technical focus include leveraging Java to develop applications, backend server logic, and web services as well as extending and enhancing existing client capabilities. High value is placed on a demonstrated ability to learn new domains and technologies quickly.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 5 years of software development experience
    • Experience with Java development (client and server)
    • Experience with JavaScript based framework web development (i.e. Angular3+, node, etc.)
    • Experience with SQL based database Technologies (i.e., Oracle, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, etc.)
    • Experience with JBoss/Widlfy application server
    • Experience with Java persistence frameworks such as Hibernate
    • Experience with Kafka or similar technologies
    • Experience with container-orchestration systems such as Kubernetes
    • Experience with developing cloud native applications
    • Experience with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform or Azure
    • Experience with Virtual Machines and Docker Containers
    • Knowledge and understanding of software agile development life cycle processes
    • Experience with Software Configuration Management (SCM) tools (e.g. Maven, Git, Jenkins)
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative and distributed team environment
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor and train junior software developers
    • Ability to obtain an active Department of Defense TS/SCI level security clearance which requires US citizenship while working in support of a government contract.

    Desired Skills

    • Computer Science or Software Engineering degree
    • Top Secret SCI clearance
    • CompTIA Security+ Certification
    • Experience with designing and developing services, to include SOAP, RESTful, and Java Messaging
    • Experience with TeamCity and Jenkins build systems
    • Experience with JIRA or similar issue tracking systems
    • Experience with the Spring Framework (i.e., Boot, Security, etc.)
    • Working knowledge of development of web applications and server-based technologies (Wildfly, PostGIS, GeoServer, etc.)
    • Experience with development of NIFI processes

    Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
    Normal office setting, therefore the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking. Use of hands to operate computer equipment. Frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
