  • Job Description

    Polaris Alpha Advanced Systems, a Parsons Company, is seeking a senior technical writer with proven knowledge, skills, and capabilities to attend technical evaluation and exercise events, gather data on participant technologies, scenarios, and outcomes, and generate high-quality, comprehensive reports for each event. Place of work will be Tampa, Florida at a government client site. Candidates need to be flexible, able to understand technical information as well as documentation generation, and work multiple products within stringent timelines. Candidates should possess excellent oral and verbal communication skills, be a team player, and be able to work across a diverse team and customer base of scientists, engineers, technicians, military and government contractors and civilians, industry, team leads, and management. Participation in exercise events, with semi-frequent travel to CONUS locations, is required. Candidate must be willing to work independently on documents without oversight and improve work as needed based on team feedback. Candidates must be able to interact consistently and respectfully with customers and extended team members.

    This position requires the selected candidate to hold an active Department of Defense secret level security clearance which requires US citizenship while working in support of a government contract.

    Required Skills

    • Expert writer, especially experienced at compiling multiple documents/partial documents into one, cohesive document
    • Experience with formatting in Microsoft Word, to include written publication (using templates, working with photos and graphics, etc.)
    • Expert level grasp of content development, grammar, and mechanics
    • Strong familiarity with Adobe PDF
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Some familiarization with Microsoft Excel
    • Ability to work on multiple products and meet timelines with accurate documents
    • Ability to reasonably understand technical data and analyze to some degree. Individual does not need to be highly technical, but must have the ability to learn/understand information when presented with data
    • Ability to independently recognize and understand changes and how those changes will effect technical collection, documents, and reports
    • Flexibility and adaptability are an absolute must in all aspects of the job
    • Familiarity with DOD processes and operations a bonus

    Desired Skills

    • BA/BS or higher degree preferred with demonstrated writing capabilities
    • Military experience a plus
