Our team is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer with an enterprise Software Development background who can work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. In this position, you will be a member of a growing Agile team supporting activity as a member of Polaris Alpha’s Space Operations Department. You will work with space analysts and software engineers to determine the best way to visualize data for a dynamic planning and tasking tool for space surveillance assets. Applicants will work on specific technical tasks as defined by the customer and program/technical management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducts research in design, development, testing, and utilization of electronic data processing software
• Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems
• Ensures software standards are met. Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
• Confers with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering field. Relevant domain experience may be accepted in place of a degree. Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering.
• Experience designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging enterprise application software
• Experience producing systems engineering artifacts and documentation for customer presentation
• Experience with web application development technologies to include Java, Javascript, and SQL
• Experience developing webservices (SOAP, REST)
• Experience working with XML to include WSDL, XSD, and XPath/XQuery
• Eligible to obtain DOD clearance

Desired Skills

• Experience with SQL commands and queries
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Groovy, Python, DOS, PowerShell, BASH)
• Experience working in an Agile Software Development environment using the Scrum methodology
• Previous experience with Jenkins, Kubernetes/Docker Swarm, Docker, and Git
• Experience with Linux
• Security+ Certification
• Current & active Top Secret clearance with DCID eligibility

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Normal office setting, therefore the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking. Use of hands to operate computer equipment. Frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
