Job Description

Polaris Alpha is seeking a Network Engineer in Aberdeen, MD. The position requires knowledge of VMware vSphere 6.x virtualization infrastructure, including Cisco UCS blade hardware installation, vCenter configuration, and SAN storage allocation according to established client-IT standards and practices. Candidate will assist IT staff in administrative support for our VMware vSphere 6.x virtualization infrastructure, including Cisco UCS blade hardware installation, vCenter configuration, and SAN storage allocation according to established IT standards and practices. Must adhere to standards and procedures for disaster recovery documentation. Will maintain a library of recovery support and business resumption procedures and will assist in installation and administration of virtualization platforms for resiliency of services for disaster recovery and business continuity. Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication and cooperative working relationships with the Corporations administrators, developers, staff, and private agencies, in order to accomplish the objectives of projects and the Information Technology Department. Also will maintain system and network logs as necessary to identify potential security threats or attacks/probes on IT systems. Assists IT staff with Storage Area Network administration, including volume creation and presentation, performance monitoring, and data snapshot and cloning operations.

Individual will work closely with a collaborative team comprised of Software Engineers, System Administrators, Program Managers, and Project Managers. The team will be responsible for creating, updating, and managing submittal artifacts including Configuration Management Plan, System Security Plan, System Security Test Plan, Security Controls Traceability Matrix, Ports Protocols and Services, and other supporting artifacts as applicable to the project.

Required Skills

• 2+ Years of extensive hands-on experience with VMware vSphere 6.x including, but not limited to: installation, configuration, management, and capacity and performance analysis of both ESXi and vCenter Server.
• Knowledge of VMware best practices and industry standards related to virtualization. This includes CPU and memory allocation best practices in a virtualized environment to ensure efficient operation of the host applications without over-taxing the underlying hardware resources.
• Experience with Cisco UCS blade chassis using various interconnect components and multiple generations of Cisco UCS blades, including chassis mid-plane architecture and Virtual Connect software.
• Familiarity with NetApp virtual storage arrays, SAN management appliances (Command View) and SAN fabrics (Cisco switches).
• Knowledge of operating systems including: Windows Server 2008/2012 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Knowledge of common vulnerabilities in Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems, and how to minimize those vulnerabilities through proper security configuration and/or additional software.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in Assessment and Authorization, CyberSecurity, Software Engineering, Security Engineering or Product Testing
• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four (4) years of additional experience, applicable training and/or certifications may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Develop and maintain Information Assurance policies and provide program policy compliance, oversight, and report findings to program management
• Ability to manage the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems (Windows / Linux) as well as maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems
• Experience working with STIGs/SRGs
• Work with team of IA professionals in achieving ATO, IATT, BA for GOTS software applications
• Have excellent time management skills with proven ability to effectively coordinate multiple tasks
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II+ Certification (Security+, CISSP, etc.), Security+ or ability to obtain
• Experience working with federal regulations related to information security (FISMA, RMF, etc.) a plus
• Experience creating and maintaining documents for submittal requirements (SSP, CMP, CONOPS, SCTM, Test Plans, etc)
• Experience with installation and maintenance of authentication/authorization software e.g. Active Directory
• Experience conducting SCAP compliant, SRR, and ACAS vulnerability scans of application servers to determine security compliance
• Ability to maintain a Best Practices approach to system installation, maintenance, and security posture in a production environment.
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must have or be able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
