Job Description

From pure research to directly supporting space operations, our space programs are firmly focused on maintaining US space superiority through cutting-edge enterprise computing expertise and SSA domain knowledge; these allow ISS Polaris Alpha to architect robust solutions tailored to real-world operational requirements.

In this position you will be a member of a small development team supporting JICSpOC activity at Schriever AFB as part of the Space Operations Department. The job will be performed at ISS Polaris Alpha Headquarters, Schriever AFB (building 24 and Mod 18/20). This team is focused on developing cutting edge prototypes for Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and space Battle Management Command and Control (Space BMC2) operations and processes. You will work with space analysts and other developers to determine the best way to enhance SSA threat processing, Space BMC2 capabilities, CONOPS, processes and decision tools. This position is for a systems engineer and subject matter expert to perform mission and systems analysis within the systems engineering development life cycle for the SSA and BMC2 missions. The candidate will perform mission assurance analysis to understand complex and emergent behavior of related systems that interact with the operational user community including the JSpOC and JICSpOC. The candidate will identify and translate user requirements into system and operational architectures/requirements. The candidate will perform systems engineering in support of analyzing, defining, designing, integrating, and testing of the operational toolsets and related systems to the SSA and space BMC2 mission areas.

Required Skills

Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering field. Relevant domain experience may be accepted in place of a degree. Minimum 6 years experience in systems engineering.
• Experience in operational and system requirements analysis and development
• Experience in enterprise systems requirements analysis and development
• Experience in requirements management
• Experience with Agile software development methodology
• Familiar with IC/DoD Space Operations
• Familiar with DoD command and control processes
• Must be a US Citizen due to federal contract
• Must have a TS/SCI clearance.

Desired Skills

Desired Skills:
• Familiar with IC/DoD systems in the SSA domain
• Knowledge of the SSN Concept of Operations and Satellite Catalog Maintenance
• Experience with JIRA or similar issue tracking systems

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Normal office setting, therefore the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking. Use of hands to operate computer equipment. Frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
